Certified Artificial Intelligence Performance Technologist (CAIT)
ISPI is setting a new industry standard with the CAIT credential by recognizing consistent, worthy performance achieved through a systematic process at the intersection of performance improvement and Artificial Intelligence. Unlike other knowledge-based certifications, this CAIT credential is grounded in a comprehensive demonstration of real-world experience and competence across a real-world project.
The CAIT is a specialized Certification that focuses on the application of AI tools and methods within the Performance Improvement discipline. It validates that a professional can design, implement, and evaluate AI-enabled performance interventions using the AI4PI framework.

FAQs about the CAIT
What training is required to apply for the CAIT credential?
Training is not required; however, we do recommend you participate in the AI4PI Journey. The CAIT credential requires verifiable experience in performance improvement utilizing an AI-powered intervention. It is the sole competency-based performance improvement credential available.
How long is a CAIT credential valid?
The CAIT is valid for three years. Recertification is based on continued work in the field, adherence to the Code of Ethics, and the accumulation of 30 CAIT Recertification Points for Continuing Education (CE), volunteer service, and/or contributions to the field during the three-year period.
What happens if my CAIT application is denied?
If your application does not meet one or more Standards, you will be notified in writing which Standard(s) was/were not met and why. This will include written feedback from the CAIT Reviewers.
You will have three options available:
- Re-submit a revised application to meet the identified Standard(s) within the next 12 months at no additional charge.
- Choose not to resubmit a revised application. ISPI will refund the certification fee, less $250, which is used to cover the review costs.
- Appeal the decision to ISPI within two weeks of receipt. If you appeal, another impartial reviewer will evaluate your application.
How long does the CAIT application review process take?
CAIT applications are processed upon submission. An estimated review time will be provided with your application acknowledgment.
