AI4PI (Artificial Intelligence for Performance Improvement) is an ISPI initiative that integrates AI responsibly into performance improvement practice. It helps professionals design, implement, and evaluate ethical, human-centered AI solutions that enhance organizational results.

AI4PI includes three core components:

The AI4PI Journey – A self-paced learning experience that teaches how to apply AI using ISPI’s frameworks and tools.

The AI4PI Award – Celebrates outstanding projects that apply AI to achieve measurable performance improvement.

The AI4PI Credential – A professional certification recognizing proven expertise in applying AI within performance improvement contexts.

AI4PI is the only evidence-based, professional program integrating AI into performance improvement using ISPI’s principles. It focuses on measurable results, ethical governance, and human-centered design—not just technology adoption.

AI4PI directly supports ISPI’s 10 Standards for Performance Improvement, helping practitioners apply AI responsibly across all phases—from defining need to evaluating results—while maintaining measurable, ethical outcomes.

The Certified AI Performance Technologist (CAIT) is a specialized certification that validates a professional’s ability to design, implement, and evaluate AI-enabled performance interventions using the AI4PI Framework.
The Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) is ISPI’s flagship credential, demonstrating mastery across all ten ISPI Standards and the full scope of performance improvement practice.

The AI4PI Journey is designed for performance improvement practitioners, consultants, learning leaders, and organizational strategists who want to integrate AI into their practice and design and implement AI-based solutions.

Participants learn to:

Any individual or team that has implemented an AI-enabled performance improvement initiative is eligible to apply. Projects can come from business, government, nonprofit, or academic settings and must demonstrate measurable results and alignment with the AI4PI Framework.
